  Iran and dust

  🔹 In our country Iran, especially in Khuzestan, we have had the prevailing wind since the past, but human intervention in nature without planning such as:

  1- Reducing the discharge of flowing rivers

  2- Failure to provide water rights for wetlands

  3- Construction activities without environmental perspective and without environmental assessment

  It has caused a lot of damage and turned Khuzestan into an album of environmental problems.

  Most of the dust centers in Khuzestan are due to construction activities.

  Yes, civil and economic activities were needed, but the consequences of that should have been investigated and corrected, which was not done.

  University professors say that there are seven hundred thousand hectares of land prone to dust in Khuzestan, half of this amount is active, and of this half, at least one hundred and twenty five thousand hectares are new centers.

  It is noteworthy that the effect of the new centers is far greater in creating pollen.

  It is more unfortunate that the new active centers are near residential areas.

  I honestly say that we do not have the power to choose and we are facing different problems, so we must consider prioritization to solve these problems.

  Undoubtedly, the most important environmental field is health.

  The actions taken by the government are limited and may not be worth mentioning.

  On the other hand, the measures taken by the government to curb the phenomenon of fine dust in Khuzestan may itself cause the activation of another center.

  Such as inter-basin water transfer, which is harmful to both the destination and the source.

  The right to water is the first issue in health that should be given special attention, because the ecological water right of wetlands or rivers is the minimum volume of water that these areas need to maintain their life.

  Of course, the construction activity in the direction of development can be done under the condition of considering environmental considerations and providing water rights.

  In my opinion, it is better to entrust the work to caring professors, experts and elites with the condition of the existing and created dust centers and the ongoing construction activity.
