CFD Engineering Semester 2024-2025 Registration

World-Academies, pioneer of organizing supervised-live online courses in fundamental science and engineering with specific focus on Fluid Dynamics, Heat and Mass Transport Phenomena, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Simulations, Multiphase Flows, Turbulence Modelling and Simulation, OpenFOAM CFD Simulation and Programming, for more than 1000 international students in 2023 and 2024, is going to organize an integrated “CFD Education Semester Program” for selected 30 International Students from October 2024 to February 2025.

The target is to train Engineers, Master and Ph.D. Students and Experts (as well graduated or last year B.Sc. students)  for CFD Modelling and Simulations in different fields, starting from beginning, teaching basic fluid dynamics concepts & modelling, basic CFD concepts and CFD Code Programming (Fortran, C++ and Python) towards advanced CFD Simulations by CFD Software (Ansys, Fluent, etc) and CFD Platforms (OpenFOAM Simulation and Programming), for different applications.

(WAC Students who have passed already some of the mentioned courses, can take rest of the complementary courses of this program, to receive Certificate of Full CFD Education Program).

The program includes 3 basic and 2 practical courses and a semester project running within 6 months Supervised-Lived Online Education (01 October to 31 March). One course is selective optional related to the selected CFD project. Each course is planned to be organized within about 14 Lectures x 80 min, (7 Weeks), and the project topic with a dedicated supervisor will be defined one month after initiation (in November 2024). The students and participants will be supervised by the professors and instructors of this program with extra Teaching Assistants activities by the WAC TA team, for the required practice and running extra mini courses (e.g. C++, Python programing and OpenFOAM, Ansys Fluent run tests), within an interactive online-live communications, according to the needs of students.

Basic Courses (For all participants of this CFD Semester Program)

– Basic Fluid Mechanics: Fundamental concepts and modelling (14 Lectures x 90 min, 7 Weeks, 01 October to November 14, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 18:00-19:30 Berlin Time)

– Basic CFD Concepts, Modelling and Simulations (16 Lectures x 90 min, 8 Weeks, 01 October to November 21, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 16:30-18:00 Berlin Time)

– Transport Phenomena: Fluid dynamics, mass and heat transfer (14 Lectures x90 min, 7 Weeks, December 01 to 29 January, Mondays, Wednesdays, 18:00-19:30 Berlin Time)

– Practical CFD Simulations using CFD Software (Ansys Fluent) and OpenFOAM Simulation (14 Lectures x 90 min, 7 Weeks, December 01 to January, 29, Mondays, Wednesdays, 16:30-18:00 Berlin Time)

CFD Semester Project (November 2024-Feburary 2025): The CFD project topic will be selected according to the background and interests of the participants and recommendation of the related WAC Professor (as supervisor). Following research area are recommended:

-Turbulent Flows, Gas Turbine and Aerospace Engineering

-Fluid Flow in Porous Media
